Hugh Jackman plants Seeds of Hope in the developing world
Published by: Dee - Filed under: Hugh news - Follow us on Twitter - Comment

Australian born actor and all-round good guy, Hugh Jackman will appear in a new documentary, Seeds of Hope, which will air in Australia on Channel Nine on Sunday, 19th September 2010 at 4pm. The documentary, which will coincide with the launch of World Vision’s new economic development program, SEE Solutions, follows Hugh’s journey to Ethiopia to learn more about projects funded by World Vision.

Hugh Jackman has been a World Vision Australia ambassador since October 2008 and has been involved in the creation of SEE Solutions from the very beginning. The idea for the program, was conceived after Hugh and World Vision CEO Tim Costello, visited a micro loans and business training project in Cambodia.

”Going to Cambodia and Ethiopia showed me that if we’re really serious about ending poverty, then we need to be offering people a hand up, not a hand out,” said Hugh Jackman.

“I’ve seen the dramatic impact that an effective development program can have on hardworking people and their families. It creates a ripple effect that can spread across entire communities and future generations.”

In Ethiopia, Hugh met with coffee farmers who despite producing some of the most sought after coffee in the world, were living in desperate poverty. Through the Coffee Farmers’ Cooperatives Revitalisation Support Project, farmers showing the most promising signs of success are being given further training in organic coffee production techniques. These farmers then share what they’ve learned with their fellow co‐op members.

Coffee Farmer Co‐ops in Ethiopia are also being provided with access to credit, marketing and business management skills, as well as support to secure fair trade certification and training in how to rehabilitate and maintain coffee processing equipment.

The Coffee Farmers’ Cooperatives Revitalisation Support Project and nine other projects supported by SEE Solutions, will assist more than 200,000 people in Africa, Asia and South America.

“SEE Solutions is a great way for Australians to help the world’s working poor,” said Rev Tim Costello.

“Most Australians would remember a time when someone offered them a hand up to help them through a rough patch. This is exactly what SEE Solutions is offering to these people: a chance to lift themselves out of the poverty cycle, and build a better future for their families.”

Hugh Jackman Opts For ‘Wolverine 2′ Over ‘Avon Man’
Published by: Jesse - Filed under: Hugh news - Follow us on Twitter - Comment

Back in March, screenwriter Chistopher McQuarrie (“The Usual Suspects”) reportedly finished the screenplay for “Wolverine 2″ with an early 2011 shoot date in mind. Although the official start of filming hasn’t been announced, Hugh Jackman may have just made a major commitment to prepare himself for his iconic role.

Deadline is reporting that Jackman has dropped out of director Kevin Lima’s “Avon Man” in order to spend the fall getting back into “killer shape” for his fifth appearance as Logan/Wolverine. Thus far, there is no word on who will direct “Wolverine 2,” but Jackman’s move is seen as an indication that the film is on track to begin production next year.

Jackman will stay on board “Avon Man” as a producer, which is expected to find a new star and begin filming in the fall. However, Jackman may still appear as Sheriff Jim Clark in the civil rights drama “Selma” before beginning his Wolverine training regimen.

Earlier this year, Jackman praised McQuarrie’s script as “the best one we’ve ever had” and indicated that the film would be shot in Japan.

“At least part of it [will be filmed in Japan],” Jackman told MTV News. “You know how these things work. We may not be able to do all of it in Japan, but definitely a lot of it.”

The sequel is based on the classic Chris Claremont and Frank Miller “Wolverine” miniseries which placed Logan at odds with a dangerous Japanese crime lord when Logan falls for his daughter, Mariko.

Early reports indicated that director Bryan Singer might consider reuniting with McQuarrie and Jackman on this sequel, but his commitment is already set with Warner Brothers’ “Jack the Giant Killer;” which is also filming early next year.

“X-Men Origins: Wolverine” director Gavin Hood has also expressed his interest in returning to the franchise.

Hugh Jackman and Producing Partner Fold Their Seed label
Published by: Jesse - Filed under: Hugh news - Follow us on Twitter - Comment

Hugh Jackman wants to drop the title of producer to focus solely on acting.

Actor originally partnered with John Palermo four years ago to form Seed Productions on the Fox lot where they shepherded such hit films as “X-Men: The Last Stand,” “Deception” and “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” which have collectively made $850 million worldwide at the box office.

Palermo will continue as a producer at Fox with his own separate label which will cease in 2012.

Jackman plans to keep his name on a number of Seed films at Fox down the road: the “Wolverine” sequel, “Avon Man,” a “Barnum” biography and “Carousel,” based on the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical.

Palermo has a number of features in development including but not limited to a feature adaptation of Catherine Fisher’s “Incarceron,” a Ryan Gosling project “Drive” as well as a remake of “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.”

Originally, Jackman was set to star in “Drive” which is being independently financed by Oddlot Entertainment. “Drive” is based on a novel by James Sallis about a Hollywood stunt driver who learns he has a bounty on his head. Cameras roll in September with Nicholas Winding Refn directing.

“Avon Man” is another project that Jackman stepped away from.

Jackman will be appearing in Wayne Wang’s “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan” and the comedy “Butter” alongside Ashley Greene.

Catching flies? No, that’s just Hugh Jackman screaming for his life while riding the Top Thrill Dragster roller coaster at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio over the weekend.

The actor, who’s in town filming his new movie Real Steel, took a break from shooting on Sunday to ride the coaster — billed as a 120-mph, 420-foot tall steel scream machine.

Jackman is just the latest celeb to visit the amusement park, known as being the Roller Coaster Capital Of The World.

Miley Cyrus, Labron James and Dale Earnhardt Jr., have all stopped by the park this summer.

Published by: Dee - Filed under: Uncategorized - Follow us on Twitter - Comment

The Actors Fund will receive a portion of the proceeds from the sale of a unique “autograph suit” featuring signatures of celebrities that wardrobe & hair professional Vince Esoldi has collected over the last 35 years.

Esoldi is seeking a buyer for the suit who he hopes will either put the suit on display in a prominent theater museum or donate it to the Smithsonian, which has expressed interest in it. Upon the sale of the suit, 20 percent of the proceeds will be donated to The Lillian Booth Actors Home of The Actors Fund, located in Englewood, New Jersey. Esoldi will be making the donation in memory of his friend and colleague Peter Howard, musical director, composer, and musician.

The suit features over 300 famous signatures, and was first signed by Ethel Merman 35 years ago at a party at Sardi’s Restaurant. It will be going on sale on eBay beginning Wednesday, August 18.

Among the other signatures are Frank Sinatra, Henry Fonda, Bette Midler, Cher, Meryl Streep, Glenn Close, Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward, Lena Horne, Elizabeth Taylor, Lilly Tomlin, Gloria Vanderbilt, Barbara Walters, Andy Warhol, Robin Williams, Faye Dunaway, Christopher Reeve, Mary Tyler Moore, Ginger Rogers, Mickey Rooney, Jimmy Stewart, Alec Baldwin, Bernadette Peters, Walter Cronkite, President and Mrs. Obama, Daniel Radcliffe, and Hugh Jackman.

Hugh Jackman: ‘Wife Doesn’t Mind Love Scenes’
Published by: Dee - Filed under: Uncategorized - Follow us on Twitter - Comment

HUGH Jackman says his wife doesn’t mind him shooting love scenes with other women.

“The key is actually to put your best foot forward and say, ‘Deb, I’m pretty sure you might be red flagging this one.’ Then you’re one step ahead,” says Hugh, who’s married to actress Deborra-Lee Furness.

“Then what happens when I get on a job they always have some kind of function and we all go out. I bring my wife and from that moment on I’m basically history. They don’t care about me at all. Most of them want to turn with Deb!”

Lauren Jackson Talks About Her Crush on Hugh
Published by: Jesse - Filed under: Hugh news - Follow us on Twitter - Comment [4]

The Seattle Times have recently did a interview with WNBA sensation Lauren Jackson, with one of the topics on hand being her crush on Hugh Jackman.

Question: Have you ever met any of the big stars from Australia — Hugh Jackman, Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban?

Lauren Jackson: I’ve never met them. I wish I could! They’re beautiful people, kind of like my idols, really beautiful. I wish I could meet Hugh. If he wasn’t married, I’d go after him in a second (laughs). He’s the hottest guy I’ve ever seen in my life. So good-looking, charming, talented. Too bad he’s married.

Question: Did it ever occur to you that people might look at you the same way you look at Hugh Jackman or one of those stars?

Lauren Jackson: Oh, no, no, no! Not true. I don’t think of myself that way. I’m not that great, mate.

Now, Hugh Jackman, I would die if I met Hugh Jackman. I’d just die. That would be it for me. … He’s hotness on a stick!
